Above is an interview after the semi final of the single scull at the 1992 Olympic games.
I was not happy with my fourth place finish, missing the finals by less than a second. I had bronze medal potential, and my dream, at the time of that interview had just collapsed. I was mad, and I was asked how I felt, and I answered: "What is planned is to become the Olympic gold medalist. What is important is to win, everything else, you get beating, you get your butt kicked. Best is victory." I found this footage and brought back a lot of emotions and memories. It was the making of an Olympic gold medal 4 years later. For those who wonder what language this is: Swiss-German. I will write some more thoughts with the MP3 workout that I recorded yesterday. I coached this workout specially for our Row2go members. It is a tough one... I didn't feel any pain so why go easy right....
After the Olympic in 1992 until winning gold in Atlanta a lot happened in my life. My dear father passed away shortly after the Olympics. I injured my back the same evening of the interview. My family was mourning for years. I moved around the East Coast to figure myself out. But slowly I found my way.
